i am trying to transfer my database to ASM, but each time i try to do it with DBCA it gives me ORA-29701 Cluster manager not running, i have tried almost every thing especially
localconfig
but nothing seem to work
Checking the status of new Oracle init process...
Expecting the CRS daemons to be up within 600 seconds.
Giving up: Oracle CSS stack appears NOT to be running.
Oracle CSS service would not start as installed
Automatic Storage Management(ASM) cannot be used until Oracle CSS service is started
please help

The ASM instance should be installed in its own Oracle Home for patching purposes.
If you have not resolved this issue, let me know. I could provide workplans for installing ASM in both a RAC and non-RAC environment.
