Hi,

Flashback logs is enabled on the database, actually the target was configured for 1 day (1440) but it doesn't get deleted automatically.

And when I issued a statement to delete it ... the statement went through but the flashback logs is still there not deleted.

shutdown immediate
startup mount
alter database flashback off;
alter database open;

Please what could be the problem here? Meanwhile, when I did the same on my Windows XP with the same version of Oracle10g it get deleted. Is there a problem with Win 2003 server deleting flashback logs?

Regards,

Texas B

Oracle will delete them when space will be needed in your FRA.

Hi Michel,

Thanks for your reply.

But when I did the same on my work station (Win XP) @ home it gets deleted but why not deleting on the Win 2003 server?

That is my question. A client is on my neck for this and I need to find a solution.

With what you posted I can't say more than what I already said.
Maybe in your workstation FRA size is much smaller.

Actually that's true. The size of FRA on my workstatin is 2G while the size @ office is 150G.

One more question please ... I know that when FRA is needed the flashback logs get deleted ... will it be deleted in this situation?

Thanks so much ... now I can go relax.

In which one? It will be deleted each time space is needed and files are expired.
