Hi All,
Currently the database we are using is for high value throughput of raw data. Our rollback segments are not being cleaned when we perform a commit and instead we have to keep expanding the rollback segments. At the moment the rollback segments are all stored in the same tablespace and we may move them around to try and do something about performance. Would this help. Any Ideas?

Have you tried using the OPTIMAL clause in creation to get them to shrink back down after each use?

I have run into a similar problem. I ran optimal and it shrunk my rollback segments by 700 meg. But when I tried to do a backup, oracle seems to be trying to backup the datafiles not the parts of the data files allocated, and in use. We have the system tables, and maybe 40 meg of user tables and the backup fails on disk space after the backup file has grown to 1.5 gig.?.
