alright, i hope this doesn't start a flame war, but here it goes.

i'm looking for some books to study from.
at my company, i'm currently the oracle designer, but i'll be moving up(?) to the oracle dba once i get the expertise. that aspect is currently contracted out. so what are some solid dba, as well as dbd(designer) books out there?

so far, amazon reader reviews point out these books, as well as this site. but some of the books this site chose are wicked bad according to some amazon reviewers.

as for me, my background with oracle, would have to be a novice. but i've been in training for a month, so i know how oracle manages instances and security, in concept.

1) oracle dba 101. publisher osborne, author marlene theiault
2) oracle performance tuning. publisher osborne, author richard niemiec
3) oracle pl/sql programming. publisher o'reilley, author steven feuerstein
4) oracle certified professional exam guide. publisher osborne. author christopher r allen.

now this is just 4 books, and that probably can't contain all of oracle. are there books i should pick up? are there books that fill in the gaps that these four leave? are these books any good. please, everyone answer. i'll compile the replies and repost them for all to see.

I've seen "Scaling Oracle 8i" by James Morle very highly recommended on another Oracle website, and in Amazon (this one is not available, at least not yet, on bookpool.com).
I have "Oracle 24x7 Tips and Techniques" - it is also very good.
