We are planning to create 65 TB of DB. It is a semi OLTP and OLAP DB, 380 GB (is suffiecient for UNDO?) is allocated for UNDO tablespace, how many datafiles are needs to be specified for UNDO Tablespace and what is the size for each datafile?

Thanks.

UNDO size depends on your workload not on database size.

UNDO size depends on the application workload, but UNDO datafile size is a different matter.

From Metalink Doc 336186.1 the maximum datafile size in 10gR2 is 2^22 blocks, or 32Gb for a database with an 8k block size.

12 32Gb data files should do the job.

I just noticed that you're using 9i.

I can't find the maximum file size on 9i. I'll keep looking.

Here we go: Metalink doc 217143.1

Not terribly informative. Basically, it's the OS maximum file size, which is ususally 2^22 Blocks, as for 10G

Quote:
Database file size
Maximum
Operating system dependent. Limited by maximum operating system file size; typically 2^22 or 4M blocks

It is true for all versions (for small file) as block number is on 22 bits in rowid.
