We are going to be migrating and upgrading one of our Oracle DBs.
Current server is W2k, 32bit, Oracle 9.2.0.x
New server will be W2k3, 64bit, Oracle 10g.

Any suggestions? PDFs?... Almost everything I've read talks about one of these 'issues' (32->64bit or new hardware or...) but not all at once.

Thanks.
Mike

While you are at it I suggest upgrading the underlying application so you change 4 things at once to hit a home run.

Changing hardware
Changing OS
Changing Oracle version

When something does not work the same as before, how/where will you look for the difference & cause?

How much application down time do you have for this switchover?
How big is the original database?
What mechanism do you plan on using to get from where you are onto the new environment?

DB size is about 200GB. The DB/redo/archive logs are located on SAN luns. We can utilize our SAN snapshot technology to easily move the data to the new system. (thats the easy part)
Would it make more sense to install 9i x64 on the new system and upgrade to 10g at a later date? In that case what would I have to do to oracle (32bit->64bit)?

There is a NOTE on Metalink which describes steps to "convert" an instance between 32-bit & 64-bit.

In my opinion, you'd be asking for problems trying to go directly from V9 32-bit to V10 64-bit; via the UPGRADE path.
If I were doing the UPGRADE, I'd install both 32-bit & 64-bit V10; upgrade V9 32-bit to V10 32-bit & then switch to 64-bit.

You could export from V9 32-bit & import into V10 64-bit directly.

I'd be very tempted to do the whole thing via an Export.
