hi,

can archive log have .dbf extension instead of .arc extension?
if yes, is this normal and save?

In Unix, file extensions are not meaningful.

Oracle does not care about extensions but it is better to follow the most used standard and above all to not use a standard extension for another type of file like dbf for an archived log file.
