Even if one of the mandatory background processes
(1.SMON 2.PMON 3.DBWRn 4.LGWR 5.CKPT ) is down or not working ,database may not shutdown or is up and running.
what is that background process.Please reply to this question.

Basically if one mandatory background process(SMON,PMON,DBWR,LGWR,CKPT) is down database goes down.
my question is even if one of them is down database is up and running.
what is that background process?
